The problem with China’s single-use plastic ban: What will replace the plastic?

<p>Just swapping single-use plastic for compostable alternatives won&#x2019;t do much if none of them end up in the compost.</p><br /><p>For a worker in Chinese cities such as Beijing or Shenzhen, there&#x2019;s a good chance that lunch at the office now involves delivery through an app&#x2014;and a pile of plastic trash. In 2018, food delivery apps in China made more than 10 billion deliveries throughout the country, nearly doubling the number from the previous year.
